Shogun - Not ShoBad Now! - The Befores

So Shine My Ride was tasked with preparing a Mitsubishi Shogun for sale.  Fortunately I had viewed the vehicle prior to quoting, so knew what I was letting myself in for.

So this was the vehicle on arrival:

Dealer Valeting Falls Short - Part 2

So another call, from another customer of the same dealer as the Discovery.

This time it was a 57-plate Golf Plus, requiring our mobile valeting services in Bridgwater.  Same story as before, customer was not happy with the finish of the vehicle.

So this was it on arrival:

You may think it doesn't look too bad, but bear in mind it was collected from the used car dealer ten days previously.

So after a thorough clean, and multi-stage machine polish, some life was being brought back to the car.  The improved finish was treated with a high carnauba content premium wax.  Trim and tyres were dressed, and glass cleaned.

So this was the finished vehicle:

And one final picture to show the difference acheived

Dealer Valeting Falls Short - Part 1

A local used car dealer sold a 54-plate Land Rover Discovery to a previous customer of mine.

Despite them having their own valeting workshop, the customer called me as they were very disappointed in the finish of the vehicle.  I went to view the vehicle, and this is what I saw:

Does this look like it is two weeks out of a dealer?
Another picture taken on arrival to view the vehicle

Scouring Pad Wash anyone?

On viewing the vehicle, I was surprised how dull it looked.  All too often dealers seem to be going for the cheapest option, rather than what will keep the customer happy over time.

In this instance, I suspect that there was probably a filling polish used to make the vehicle appear shiny when on display.

The pictures above were taken before I touched the vehicle in any way.

After a discussion with the customer, it was decided that a thorough exterior valet was in order.

So the aim was to bring some life back to the vehicle's paintwork. So firstly a test section on the bonnet and roof to see what difference could be made.
Lower section after polishing. Definitely more life there
Grey dullness removed from a section after polishing

So once the vehicle was thoroughly washed, dried, and then polished, a durable wax layer was added to help keep the newly glossy finish.

More life and gloss to the paintwork now
Now a vehicle they can be proud to look at
I had a supervisor for the day, a young Great Dane called Diesel.

Being another year, it is naturally time to take stock of the previous year.

I have had the opportunity to meet some great people, and work on all sorts of vehicles, from a 1973 classic to a 26ft touring caravan.

A selection of pictures for you:

Even vans have had the Shine My Ride treatment
Some have been memorable for other reasons!

Ceramishield - The Ultimate Paint Sealant

Ceramishield Ceramic Paint Sealant is an exciting new evolution in paint protection products.

By creating an inseparable bond on a molecular level with your paintwork you get a coating that cannot be washed off like a wax or sealant, creating the ultimate paint sealant

It is a ceramic paint sealant exhibiting an extremely durable colour enhancing gloss which protects exterior surfaces including paint, glass, metal, stainless steel, wheels, gel coat, and plastic composites.

Ceramishield is a ceramic paint sealant, a semi-permanent coating that actually becomes the functional surface of your vehicle's paintwork. Ceramishield acts as a second layer of clear coat which provides increased protection against the elements.

This new clear ceramic paint sealant is glossier, chemical resistant, and up to two times harder than the original clear coat.

The Ceramishield ceramic paint sealant systems provides incredible protection against minor scratches, swirl marks, acid rain, bird droppings, and harmful UV rays.

Ceramishield is not a typical wax or sealant which only forms a sacrificial shield of protection.  Because it is a ceramic paint sealant, it bonds into your paintwork creating a semi-permanent glossy shell over the surface making an easy to clean barrier against the elements.

Ceramishield ceramic paint sealant can be applied to the entire exterior of your vehicle (except rubber and soft plastic) and performs exceptionally well on alloy wheels and glass.

Regular washing is the only maintenance needed to keep your vehicle looking fantastic! The ceramic paint sealant coating can even be waxed or sealed over with your favourite product to intensify the gloss.
Ceramishield ceramic paint sealant services are available right now from Shine My Ride, Somerset's only approved Concours Car Care Ceramishield detailing company.
