Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly Valeting

We have a number of customers that take advantage of having their vehicles valeted on a regular basis.

This can be advantageous to both private and business customers, as it can free up time to spend on other things.

Some customers request that their vehicles are looked after on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.

Because Shine My Ride is a mobile valeting service, we come to you at home or work

52-plate Porsche 911 Carrera - Pre-Sale Mini Valet

So Shine My Ride was asked to head over to Langport, Somerset to do a mini valet on a 52-plate Porsche Carrera.  This was so that it could be put up for sale.

Sadly, this car had not been looked after too well over the years, with a number of battle scars, and the paint bubbling on the wheels from too much acid from car washes.

So this was the sight that greeted me on arrival:

So once the vehicle was washed throughly and dried, the car was polished by hand with an all-in-one polish.  An all-in-one polish was selected to both enahcne the appearance, and give the paint some protection while it was advertised for sale.

Once the vehicle was polished, the tyres etc were dressed, the interior vacuumed, and glass cleaned.

So the afters:

Rover 200 - Full Mobile Valet

So this was a 1998 Rover 200 that I was asked to perform a full valet on near Bridgwater, Somerset.

So once the nooks and crannies had been dealt with with an all purpose cleaning product and detailing brushes, it was time for a thorough wash, using a non-scratch wash pad.  The vehicle was then dried using microfibre drying towels.

Then it was time to revive the finish on the car, so Perficio pre-wax cleaner from Concours Car Care was chosen.

So this was the passenger door before polishing:
Haziness showing very clearly here
Then once the door had been polished, by hand, the difference was clear
After polishing
So this product was used over the entire exterior, and then the car was protected using a polymer spray sealant.

Once this was completed, the plastic trim and tyres were dressed to enhance their appearance.  The interior was fully valeted, including shampooing the seats and carpets etc, and cleaning the dashboard and plastic surfaces.

Does this look like a 14 year old car?

It really doesn't matter what age the car is, it does not stop us putting in the same amount of effort, as if it were our own vehicle

Shogun - Not ShoBad Now - The Afters

If you have seen the first post on this vehicle, then you know what the task was like to turn this around.

So after a thorough wash process, including cleaning the corroded wheels as best as possible, it was then time to sort the exterior.  The paintwork and brightwork was thoroughly polished to bring back the gloss, and also give it some protection.  The interior was thoroughly valeted, with all carpets shampooed, and the vinyl seats thoroughly cleaned.

Tyres and trim were then dressed, and all glass cleaned.  So the after pictures:

And how about a couple of side-by-sides for comparison

Shogun - Not ShoBad Now! - The Befores

So Shine My Ride was tasked with preparing a Mitsubishi Shogun for sale.  Fortunately I had viewed the vehicle prior to quoting, so knew what I was letting myself in for.

Dealer Valeting Falls Short - Part 2

So another call, from another customer of the same dealer as the Discovery.

This time it was a 57-plate Golf Plus, requiring our mobile valeting services in Bridgwater.  Same story as before, customer was not happy with the finish of the vehicle.

So this was it on arrival:

You may think it doesn't look too bad, but bear in mind it was collected from the used car dealer ten days previously.

So after a thorough clean, and multi-stage machine polish, some life was being brought back to the car.  The improved finish was treated with a high carnauba content premium wax.  Trim and tyres were dressed, and glass cleaned.

So this was the finished vehicle:

And one final picture to show the difference acheived

Dealer Valeting Falls Short - Part 1

A local used car dealer sold a 54-plate Land Rover Discovery to a previous customer of mine.

Despite them having their own valeting workshop, the customer called me as they were very disappointed in the finish of the vehicle.  I went to view the vehicle, and this is what I saw:

Does this look like it is two weeks out of a dealer?
Another picture taken on arrival to view the vehicle

Scouring Pad Wash anyone?

On viewing the vehicle, I was surprised how dull it looked.  All too often dealers seem to be going for the cheapest option, rather than what will keep the customer happy over time.

In this instance, I suspect that there was probably a filling polish used to make the vehicle appear shiny when on display.

The pictures above were taken before I touched the vehicle in any way.

After a discussion with the customer, it was decided that a thorough exterior valet was in order.

So the aim was to bring some life back to the vehicle's paintwork. So firstly a test section on the bonnet and roof to see what difference could be made.
Lower section after polishing. Definitely more life there
Grey dullness removed from a section after polishing

So once the vehicle was thoroughly washed, dried, and then polished, a durable wax layer was added to help keep the newly glossy finish.

More life and gloss to the paintwork now
Now a vehicle they can be proud to look at
I had a supervisor for the day, a young Great Dane called Diesel.
